Dr. Edith Omwami

Edith Omwami is currently an Assistant Professor in the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies. She received her B. Ed. and M.A. from Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya and her Ph.D. in Social Foundations from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo.

Currently, Dr. Omwami serves as Coordinator of the HIV/AIDS Initiative of the Globalization Research Center Africa (GRCA) at UCLA. She previously worked as Project Coordinator for the UCLA GL-CRSP Child Nutrition and Cognitive Development Project in Kenya. Her research interests include education, development project design and monitoring and nutrition and health education linkages.

Professor Omwami has served as reviewer, consultant and advisor on numerous projects for international organizations projects such as USAID and WHO ICC/SCN. She has been Faculty in Residence since 2003 and enjoys academic programming, Baking and Barbequing with the Residents.
