Assistant Resident Director (full-time)
UC Senior Resident Advisor - Contract
The Assistant Resident Director (ARD) is a full-time, contract, entry-level professional position responsible for assisting the Resident Director with the implementation of the student development program in the residential facility. The full-time ARD will be assigned to a facility housing approximately 800-1100 students, and may work with 17-24 Resident Assistants and other student leaders. Under the supervision of the Resident Director, the Assistant Resident Director functions include:
- Student staff supervision/training
- Program implementation and oversight
- Student Government Advising
- Counseling/Advising individuals and groups
- Emergency/Crisis Response
- Student Conduct
- Creating positive working relationships with colleagues and students
- Working collaboratively with Front Desk operations, Housing Assignments and Dining Services to provide student service
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Welfare, Education, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree and a commitment to student affairs is preferred. Prior experience in group living and student activities, interaction with diverse student populations and demonstrated supervisory experience preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; Ability to create and maintain a team atmosphere with staff and peers; Experience with residential and/or college programming; Experience with individual and/or group advising; Demonstrated commitment to and a willingness to engage in complex diversity issues in on campus housing; Continued employment contingent on satisfactory background check.
