On-Campus Housing Council (OCHC)

The On-Campus Housing Council (OCHC) is a body of student representatives from each resident’s association, as well as appointed Executive Board members. OCHC serves four main functions:

  • Serve the On-Campus Housing community by representing students’ concerns to housing and dining professionals during weekly Policy Review Board meetings.
  • Organize all-Hill programs for residential students, such as Casino Night, Spring Formal, and movie screenings.
  • Offer financial and marketing support for groups programming for residential students.
  • Serve as a liaison between on-campus housing and other UCLA entities such as USAC and SAA.

Nine Executive Board members serve as the leadership team for the On-Campus Housing Council. Executive Board members must be a current resident of an On-Campus Housing residence hall and be in good disciplinary standing with the University and ORL. Additionally, Executive Board members must uphold the True Bruin standards of Integrity, Excellence, Accountability, and Respect, and display these values throughout the year.

Executive Board

President

Shall be the official representative of OCHC to ORL and preside over meetings of the Executive Board, Policy Review Board, President’s Council, and General Council. The President is responsible for preparing agendas and corresponding with presenters at the meetings. The President is an ex-officio member of all association committees and can form subcommittees as deemed appropriate by the Council.

Internal Vice President

Shall be the official representative of OCHC to USAC and any other campus organization with which the Council is involved and will create and maintain collaborative relationships throughout the University. The IVP will also fulfill the duties of the President during his/her absence. The person in this position also provides opportunities for team development for the Council and Executive Team.

External Vice President

Shall serve as the National Communications Coordinator (NCC) for NACURH and affiliated associations. The EVP will also coordinate Executive Board attendance, submit bids for presentations, and head delegations for national and regional conferences. The person in this position is responsible for promoting and upholding the reputation of OCHC and UCLA within NACURH and affiliated associations.

Programming Directors (3 positions)

Shall lead the Council in developing programs that uphold the Core 4 values and meet the needs of the larger Hill community. Programming Directors coordinate all logistical aspects of official OCHC programs, including reserving facilities, organizing setup, and managing the vision of the event. The person in this position will work closely with Communications Directors, Setup Crew, and OCHC advisors, as well as campus co-programming entities.

Communications Directors (2 positions)

One Executive Director of Communications shall take accurate minutes of all OCHC and PRB meetings and distribute them to all OCHC members, and act as the webmaster for the Council website. They will publicize for all official OCHC events put on by the Programming Directors and will be responsible for creating resident awareness of OCHC through various mediums.

Finance Director

Shall present an initial written budget to be submitted to the Council and keep accurate records of all financial transactions and accounts maintained by OCHC. The Finance Director will make weekly presentations on the budget and assist the Council in making resource allocation decisions.

The OCHC application process begins late in the winter quarter. Come back in March 2010!
