Parents and Families: Director’s Message
On behalf of the entire Office of Residential Life (ORL) staff, I want to welcome you to UCLA and to living "On the Hill" as the on-campus undergraduate residences are called. Whether your student is considering living on-campus for the first time, or has been a part of the community for years, I am confident they can find the resources needed to be successful in academic pursuits and as members of this community. Educational studies have documented the benefits of living on-campus for undergraduates. The proximity to classes, rich social interactions and many programs offered in the residential setting all contribute to academic and personal success. As parents and families, your support of students as they encounter new situations and learn to independently manage their lives and make good choices is important. Please browse our entire web site and learn about the many opportunities, services and programs we provide to residents. I encourage you to meet our staff, especially the Resident Assistants and Resident Director in your student’s community. Together, we all work to create safe, supportive and inclusive living-learning communities. Welcome!
Suzanne "Seppy" Seplow, Ed.D.
